Christmas Newsletter
Dear All,
Just a quick message to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you all find time to enjoy with family, friends, and hopefully relaxing in your own way.
What a difference a year makes, 2 teams out every week, both top of their respective tables, 3 teams out on 2 occasions winning both matches. A massive thankyou and big pat on the back to director of rugby Danny Matthews and all the coaching team making training competitive but enjoyable and plenty of competition for places in the first team. Great to see so many of last year's colts coming through into the first squad and definitely not looking out of place. It is even more pleasing to hear that some of this years colts are wanting to play for the seniors under the guidance and approval of coach, Fletch.
Off the pitch we have finished updating the bar area, TNT on the TV which proved very popular in the Autumn Internationals and solar panels on the roof to help with the club finances for the next 20 or more years.
I must say a big thankyou to all the committee members that have helped make these things happen, and to all the bar staff for their hard work dealing with the mad rush at the final whistle who help keep the club running as successfully as it does. The mini and junior sections are looking strong as well with the U16's in the semi-finals of North Mids. Cup. I can't finish the thankyou's without mentioning our president, Mr. Rich Charmley who backs me all the way and has got this habit of sowing little seeds in my head, not all of which are good ones!!!!!!
In the near future we are aiming at finishing the updating of the bar and also replace the decking in front of the clubhouse and possible floodlighting on the 3rd. team pitch. We are also looking for volunteers to help with:-
Gate duty on match days
Help with sponsorship
Match day photographer
Fundraising
I you feel you can help in any way please get in touch, the more we have the less work it is.
If anyone wants any late Christmas presents, there are still a few tickets left for England v Wales and Ireland in the 6 nations. With the England team playing how they are at the moment these promise to be good days out (Unless you're Welsh!! (sorry couldn't help it, the 70's are still a dreadful memory)). Please contact Bob Thompson at treasurer@whitchurchrfc.co.uk if you are interested.
The next senior game is a big one for the 1st. team as they travel to Newport on the 10th. January kicking off at 2:30pm. The 2nd. team entertain Burntwood on the same day and there is another lunch the following week for the 1st. team game against Newcastle on the 17th. January. To get booked in contact Rob Gong as usual at gongbob@hotmail.com
I have no idea what 2026 will bring to us world wide, or at grass roots rugby level but we will keep plodding on!!
Finally thankyou for all the supporters, visitors, clubs, and organisations that use the club for all their support and once again I wish you all a very merry Christmas.
